Ingredients

Cake

  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 pcs eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1.25 cup milk

Maple sauce

  • 1.5 cup maple syrup
  • 1.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 cup single cream
  • 0.3333333333 cup butter

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and grease a 13x9 inch pan.
  • In a large bowl beat 0.5 cup butter and 1 cup sugar with an electric mixer until light.
  • Add 2 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  • In another bowl whisk together 2 cups flour and 1 tsp baking powder.
  • Alternate adding the flour mixture and 1.25 cups milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • For the maple sauce, in a large saucepan bring 1.5 cups maple syrup, 1.5 cups brown sugar, 1.5 cups single cream and 0.3333333333 cup butter to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Reduce heat and simmer gently about 2 minutes until slightly reduced.
  • Pour the hot sauce gently over the batter in the pan.
  • Bake about 35 minutes or until top is light brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
