Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 2 pcs onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 pcs garlic clove
  • 500 g lean minced beef
  • 90 g mushrooms
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 400 g canned tomatoes
  • 300 ml hot beef stock
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 350 g spaghetti
  • Parmesan (for topping)

Directions

  • Put the onion and oil in a large pan and fry over a fairly high heat for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the garlic and mince and fry until they both brown.
  • Add the mushrooms and herbs and cook for another couple of minutes.
  • Stir in the tomatoes, beef stock, tomato puree and Worcestershire sauce and season to taste.
  • Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in a large pan of boiling salted water according to packet instructions and drain well.
  • Return spaghetti to the pan, add a dash of olive oil if desired, then stir in the meat sauce.
  • Serve in hot bowls and sprinkle with Parmesan.
